lyrics

American peer pressure/
Will make a young man in America feel lesser/
If he don't have at least about 4 girls upon his resume/
by the time he's in his final semester of 12th grade/
Now see... Little Johnny grew up in church/
Trying to make his mom and dad proud but what could be worse?/
Giving into sin? Or being a prude who never fits in?/
He hears all of the bragging at lunch time from a few friends./
They're shuffling through picture of girls, up on their smart phones/
When one says "I samshed this girl when we was at my home."/
Another one says, "Bruh, I had this chick all alone"/
They turn to little Johnny and ask, "Man whatchu be on?"/
Little Johnny tenses up. He doesn't know what to say/
Then he replies, "Man, I had this girl on the first date."/
They all release a little chuckle then they proceed/
While little Johnny thinks, "Man I never did a dang thing...
How long will it..."

Take for all of you to see/
I'm so close to losing all me/
But no one knows me but myself/
So this may be my cry for help as I hold on before you start to see/
(I'm giving into peer pressure!)

Few years later Jonny's in college/
Trying to keep his grades up while he's focused on knowledge/
However that focus leaves him when he see's people watching/
Like, "Why has Johnny never had a girl?" The people start talking./
So what's wrong with little Johnny? Are we sure he's ok?/
Is he depressed? Is he on drugs? Is he straight? Is he gay?/
Even his parents have some slick jokes that they would say./
They mean well but they don't realize they're affecting his faith./
Now little Johnny thinks to himself while taking a shower/
"What if everybody is right? Maybe I am a coward.../
I'mma prove em all wrong. I'mma make my parents proud/
I'mma get the finest girl I can find up in this town."/
And yet he let's his standards down, He meets a pretty dame/
She thinks little Johnny's cute, plus she remembers his name/
But what he doesn't realize is that this chick is insane/
But he falls in love with her out of desperation/
How long will it...

Take for all of you to see/
I'm so close to losing all me/
But no one knows me but myself/
So this may be my cry for help as I hold on before you start to see/
(I'm giving into peer pressure!)

Every good kid has an expiration date, and little Johnny got tired of being told to wait/
So they keep dating and he takes her to this fancy place/
They're talking after dinner as she's blowing smoke back in his face/
"I get a little high from time to time, and drink a little much./
Its not that big a deal Johnny, you should start to loosen up."/
He chuckles nervously and says, "Sorry ain't my scene."/
But he tried to over look it like it ain't a thing/
So he won't admit he's dancing with the devil/
Electric sliding down a slope, compromise will get ya/
Eventually Johnny... Now don't be another David/
God forgives us of our sins but consequences still awaiting/
So later as he's sitting on his bed staring at the wall/
He feels conviction so he thinks of ways to break it off/
He's tired of feeling like he's turned his face away from God/
So he picks up his phone and he tries to make a call/
